San Diego might be the perfect family destination. Beaches, theme parks, zoos, safari parks, good food...I'm so ready to go back! It has quickly become one of my kids' favorite places ever. A few months ago we told our kids that we had booked a trip to Hawaii. My son's first reaction was disappointment because he was hoping that we were headed to San Diego instead. So, as you can see, San Diego ranks up there as a top vacation destination for kids!
San Diego is located at the very south point of California and is known for its great weather that it is has all year round. We went during Spring Break, which is a great time to go. The weather was always sunny and in the seventies the whole time. There is so much to do in San Diego, that I felt one whole blog post devoted to our trip was just way too much. I've broken down our trip by day so that if you wanted to follow a similar plan, you could easily do that. After doing all of my travel research for our trip, I had designed a trip that would give us some pretty busy days with some down time, knowing my kids would need it. It worked out perfectly. You can always move around days, but the days themselves work well in terms of getting around to places and fitting in the most things to do. We had been to San Diego previously and stayed at Paradise Point. This was a great resort to stay at, but this time, we wanted to find something a little more economical. We ended up staying at the Best Western Island Palms. And, I have to say that Island Palms is now our favorite and where we will stay the next time we go this coming spring. There were two pools that were never very busy. It also sat on a marina and beautiful views of the water. The location where it's located is called Shelter Island. It was easily accessible and made it a convenient location to get to all the different places we were going. I really can't recommend it enough! |
