Hi! My name is Heidi and I live in Portland, OR. I am a mom of two, wife, and elementary school teacher. In my spare time I love to plan trips and getaways for my family and friends. I spend countless hours doing research to find the best sites, restaurants, and accommodations to make sure our time and money is well-spent.
After many years of planning my own trips, I had multiple people tell me that I should start sharing this information with others and I needed to start a blog. So, here I am sharing all that I've learned so you too can make the most of your getaways and travel savvy. I am a firm believer that in order to have the best trip possible, you must spend time planning it. I never go no a trip without a detailed itinerary. And when I say detailed, I mean every day is planned out. I'll never forget the look on my family's faces when I handed them our itinerary for a big family Hawaii trip. It was 13 pages long and they thought I was joking. I wasn't joking! Planning trips and itineraries are serious business! I pick where we will eat, where we will go, and possible back-ups in case something doesn't work out. Part of planning out itineraries is part of the fun for me. I love sitting on the coach with my guidebooks, my laptop, and coffee and starting to plot out each day, one at a time. It's what gets me really excited for our trips because I start to get a peak into the experiences we will have. Does it mean we have to stick to these itineraries exactly? No! In fact, many of these days are interchangeable and completely flexible. The main reason I plan out an itinerary is so that we don't waste time. The amount of time that people waste trying to figure out what to do is a waste of money. You are spending most likely, a significant amount on a vacation and time is money. Also, by essentially vetting things beforehand, you are almost guaranteeing to have a great experience at each attraction, restaurant, and hotel. Your itinerary is your insurance policy, making sure you accomplish a lot and have a wonderful time doing it. So, with that said, the main reason for this blog is to pass on all of my experiences and knowledge about places to you, so you can simplify your planning. I know that not everyone loves to plan like I do, and so you can use this blog to plan for you. Follow along with me to get ideas and tips for family travel. I will continue to add destinations as we travel around where we live and also to new places around the world! My hope is that I can make traveling easier for others, especially for families, by sharing all that I have learned. |
