Oregon Wineries

I have had the privilege to live in Oregon my whole life. Growing up here, I have witnessed first hand the transformation the winery industry has taken here in Oregon. I still remember the days that most tasting rooms were free, in hopes of getting you to just taste their wines. I then remember wineries starting to charge $5 per tasting and thinking that was crazy! Skip forward a few years, and tastings were around $10, but if you bought a bottle or two, you would get your tastings for free. Now, you pay for it all!

Oregon has become one of the premier wine destinations. Every time we go tasting at different wineries, we find ourselves meeting people from all over the country who have traveled to Oregon just for the wine. Who can blame them? We have some great wine!

Pinot noir is what put Oregon wineries on the map. I have been told numerous times that Oregon has great soil to produce some of the world's best Pinot noir. When I first starting going wine tasting, I wouldn't know, as I stuck to sweeter wines like rieslings. But as I have gotten older, my tastes have changed and have found myself becoming a Pinot noir snob. Living in Oregon will do that to you! When you have some of the best wine in the world in your backyard, you know what good and bad wine tastes like.

Not only does Oregon Wine Country offer some great wine it also offers some spectacular scenery. The drives to wineries are often filled with country roads, line by fields of produce, animals, and sometimes views of our majestic mountains. If you don't have great views on the way there, you are most likely to get the best views at the wineries themselves. They are often set up on a hillside, giving you the best views of the Willamette Valley and other regions in Oregon. With that said, if you ever find yourself in Oregon, make sure to make this a part of your trip. You won't regret it!

Even if you aren't a wine drinker, wineries in Oregon have turned their tasting rooms into more of an experience than a tasting. Many offer food, other beverages, entertainment, and more. So, even if you aren't a fan of wine, don't let it deter you from experiencing the wineries around Oregon.

I have been to so many wineries around Oregon, as it's a pretty normal weekend activity of wine-loving Oregonians. There are several different regions, although I tend to spend most of my time in the Willamette Valley Region. The spans from the suburbs of Portland, down to the Eugene. It is home to over two-thirds of Oregon's wineries, so you can see why I focus my time here. My hope is that after trying a winery, I will add it to this collection, so that hopefully you can come back again and again to this page and find new spots to try if you live in Oregon. Or create list to try if you decide to visit.
